Terms & Conditions
Davidan Pty Ltd (ABN 49 613 149 741) trading as Belle Robes Atelier
Last updated: 13 July 2026
Version: 1.1
Hiring a dress should feel like the easy, exciting part of getting ready for your event - not the bit you have to read fine print on. We've still written the fine print (someone has to), but we've tried to keep it plain, fair and human.
The short version: we send you a beautiful dress in good time for your event, you wear it and feel a million dollars, you pop it back into the same home-compostable mailer it arrived in (using the prepaid return label we include), and we take care of the cleaning.
Everything below simply sets out how that works - and what happens on the rare occasion something goes sideways.
How it works, in a nutshell
- Choose your dress and your hire period (4 days or 7 days, or contact us for longer periods), book and pay online.
- We send it to you via Australia Post express post in a home-compostable mailer, with a prepaid, self-addressed return label enclosed. To return it, you re-use the same mailer and label - there’s no separate return satchel. Return instructions are provided in every delivery.
- On the Sunshine Coast? You can choose personal delivery and collection instead - we drop it off and pick it up on Mondays and Thursdays for a flat $15 (free on orders of $250 or more). See clause 6.
- Every dress arrives with a 360 ID Tag attached. Leave it on while you decide - fit-or-preference refunds (clause 10) are only available while the 360 ID Tag is still attached and intact. Once you've decided to go ahead and wear the dress, you simply remove it.
- Wear it, love it, and have a wonderful night (or day, or part thereof).
- Let us know if there's any damage to the dress as a result of you wearing it, by emailing or calling us before or when you return it.
- For extra peace of mind, you can tick optional Accidental Damage Protection at checkout ($9.95) - it covers accidental damage up to $250 per item, and it's refunded if your hire is. See clause 13.
- Pop it back into the same mailer, attach the prepaid return label, and lodge it at the post office (or, if you chose the local option, just have it ready for our Monday or Thursday pick-up) - no cleaning needed, that's included in your hire.

These Terms & Conditions are the complete agreement between us.
Our Shipping, Returns and Refunds pages set out the same arrangements in a friendlier, page-by-page form for easy reference - but if there's ever any inconsistency, these Terms & Conditions prevail.
1. About these terms and who we are
Belle Robes Atelier (“Belle Robes”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is operated by Davidan Pty Ltd (ABN 49 613 149 741).
Where we say “you” or “your”, we mean the person making the booking and hiring the garment.
These terms apply to every hire you book with us, whether through our website www.bellerobesatelier.com.au, by phone or otherwise.
By placing a booking, you're agreeing to them, so please have a read before you book.
We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your hire is the one published on our website at the time you make your booking.
2. Some words we use
Dollars, dollars or $: refers to AUD (Australian dollars).
Garment, dress or piece: the item or items you hire from us.
Compostable mailer (and return label): the home-compostable mailer we deliver your dress in, together with the enclosed pre-paid, self-addressed return label. You return the hire in the same mailer, using that label - there is no separate return satchel.
Hire period: the 4-day or 7-day window you select at checkout.
RRP: the recommended retail price of the garment as listed on its product page on our website. For rare, vintage or archival pieces that can't simply be re-purchased, RRP means our reasonable assessment of the garment's current replacement value. RRP is the most you can be charged for the repair, replacement or loss of a garment.
360 ID Tag: the numbered, tamper-evident security tag we attach to every garment in a prominent, visible position (see image below). It is designed so that it cannot be discreetly concealed if the dress is worn, and it is your safeguard for a fit-or-preference refund under clause 10.
The 360 ID Tag itself states:
“Please note: Returns will only be accepted if this 360 ID Tag remains attached.”
Where these terms refer to “the tag”, they mean the 360 ID Tag.
The 360 ID Tag, shown attached to a garment. It sits in a prominent, visible position so it cannot be concealed if the dress is worn.
3. Your booking and our agreement
A booking is confirmed once we've accepted it, received payment in full, and sent you a confirmation email. That confirmation is when our agreement with you begins.
We do our best to make sure every dress shown as available really is available.
Occasionally one may not be, for example, if a previous hirer returns it late or damaged. If that happens, we'll contact you as quickly as we can and offer you:
- an alternative dress;
- a store credit; or
- a full refund.
The choice is yours.
We may decline or cancel a booking before dispatch for any reason as determined by us. If we do and you've already paid, you'll receive a full refund.
4. Hire periods - 4 days and 7 days
We offer two hire periods: a 4-day hire and a 7-day hire.
You choose the one that suits you at checkout.
The 7-day option is there for when your event is a little further out, when you'd like to try the dress on well ahead of the day, or when you're travelling.
Should you require a hire period of more than 7 days, please call or email us to discuss making a longer hire booking and we will do our utmost to look after you.
Your hire period runs for the number of days you've booked, beginning on your nominated start date.
We aim to have your dress arrive on or before the first day of your hire period, so you've got it in good time for your event.
Your hire period includes the day you post the dress back to us - so please lodge your return on or before the last day of your hire period. See clause 8.
If your hire ends on a weekend, please return it the next business day.
5. Prices and payment
Prices for each garment are shown on our website in Australian dollars (AUD) and are payable in full at the time of booking.
Postage by express post, including pre-paid return to us, is a flat rate of $17.95 per order. See clause 6.
Sunshine Coast, Queensland local customers have the option of personal delivery and collection on Mondays and Thursdays at a flat rate of $15 all-up, covering both trips.
Shipping is free on any order of $250 or more, whether by express post (both ways) or by local Sunshine Coast delivery and collection. See clause 6.
From time to time, we may offer promotions or discount codes. Any conditions attached to them will be set out at the time.
At checkout you can also add optional Accidental Damage Protection for extra peace of mind. See clause 13. It's entirely your choice.
6. Postage - flat rate $17.95, return included
Free on orders of $250 or more
Postage by express post is a flat rate of $17.95 per order, anywhere in Australia.
This single fee covers both express delivery of your dress to you and the return postage back to us - there's nothing further to pay to send it home.
If you're a Sunshine Coast, Queensland local, you can instead choose personal delivery and collection on Mondays and Thursdays only, at a flat rate of $15 per order, covering both the delivery and the collection.
Free shipping on orders of $250 or more
Where your order total is $250 or more, shipping is free - whether you choose express post (both ways) or local Sunshine Coast delivery and collection.
See clause 10 for how this interacts with a fit-or-preference refund.
A local bonus - 5 days for the price of 4
Because our local collections run on Mondays and Thursdays only, a 4-day hire delivered on a Thursday is collected on the following Monday, our next local collection day - so you keep the dress for 5 days for the price of a 4-day hire.
This applies to eligible Sunshine Coast postcodes; public holidays may occasionally shift the collection day.
We send every express-post order in a home-compostable mailer, with a prepaid, self-addressed return label enclosed - you return the hire in the same mailer, using that label.
We currently deliver within Australia only.
Our aim is to send your dress in plenty of time. We use express post, but delivery is ultimately in Australia Post's hands and can occasionally be affected by things outside our control.
If timing is tight, you're always welcome to check in with us before you book.
7. When your hire period starts and finishes
Your hire period starts on the start date shown on your confirmation.
Responsibility for the garment passes to you on delivery.
From the moment the parcel is delivered to your address, you're responsible for the dress until it's safely posted back to us.
Please make sure the delivery address you give us is correct. We can't be responsible for a parcel sent to an address that was given to us incorrectly.
8. Returning your dress
Returning your dress is easy: pop it back into the same home-compostable mailer it arrived in, attach the enclosed prepaid, self-addressed return label, seal it, and lodge it.
Please don't wash or dry-clean it first - the cleaning is included in your hire. See clause 12.
Return and garment care instructions are included with every hire.
Please lodge your return over the counter at any Australia Post outlet and keep the lodgement receipt as your proof of posting.
We recommend counter lodgement rather than a street post box, because it's receipted, scanned and tracked straight away - which protects you if there's ever a question about when the dress was sent.
Please return the dress in the same mailer, with the prepaid return label, rather than your own packaging or postage method, unless we've agreed otherwise - the mailer and label we provide are tracked and covered.
Local Sunshine Coast customers
If you chose local delivery and collection, there's no need to post anything - we'll collect the dress from your home or workplace on a Monday or Thursday.
Just let us know it's ready, and we'll arrange the next available collection.
The $15 local fee covers both the delivery and the pick-up.
Where the next collection day falls later than your hire end - for example, a 4-day hire delivered on a Thursday is collected the following Monday - the extra day is yours at no charge. See clause 6.
For postal returns, your return must be lodged on or before the last day of your hire period.
For local collection, simply have the dress ready for your scheduled Monday or Thursday collection.
If you are returning a dress unworn for a fit-or-preference refund (clause 10), please make sure the 360 ID Tag is still attached and intact - whether you're posting it back or having it collected locally - as it is how we confirm the dress has not been worn.
9. Late returns
Each dress usually has another customer's booking close behind yours, so a late return can let someone else down.
If your return is lodged after the last day of your hire period, a late fee of one quarter (¼) of the agreed hire price per day applies until it's lodged.
For example, a hire agreement of $120 will attract a late return fee of $30 per day until returned, whether it's a 4- or 7-day hire.
For local delivery and collection, your scheduled Monday or Thursday collection is never treated as a late return, even where it falls after your hire’s nominal last day. See clause 6.
That built-in extra day is on us, not a late fee.
If a dress isn't returned at all, clause 14 (lost or unreturned garments) applies.
If a dress is more than 7 days overdue with no contact from you, we may treat it as unreturned and charge the replacement cost up to RRP.
If something's gone wrong and you know you'll be late, please just let us know - a quick message goes a long way, and we'll always try to sort it out fairly.
10. If it doesn't fit, or you're not feeling it - refunds
We want you to love your dress.
If it arrives and it doesn't fit, or you're simply not happy with it, you can return it for a refund of your hire fee, less the applicable postage/delivery fee, as long as all of the following are true:
(a) you let us know within 24 hours of the dress being delivered;
(b) the dress is returned unworn, clean and undamaged;
(c) the 360 ID Tag is still attached and intact (please don't remove it until you've decided to keep the hire) - the tag itself states: “Please note: Returns will only be accepted if this 360 ID Tag remains attached.”; and
(d) you return it promptly - by lodging it in the same mailer, with the prepaid return label, within 24 hours of letting us know (preferably the same day), or, if you chose local delivery and collection, by having it ready, unworn and tagged, for our next Monday or Thursday collection.
What is “the applicable postage/delivery fee”?
The postage or delivery fee covers real costs we pay whether or not the dress is worn, so that part isn't refundable - only your hire price and any Accidental Damage Protection fee comes back to you.
What's retained is:
- Express-post orders: $17.95, covering delivery to you and return to us.
- Local Sunshine Coast delivery and collection: the $15 local fee, covering both the delivery and the Monday/Thursday pick-up.
- Orders of $250 or more (which shipped free): a flat amount equal to the shipping that would otherwise apply - $17.95 (express) or $15 (local) - towards the delivery and return costs we still incur.
Everything else - your full hire price, plus any Accidental Damage Protection fee you paid - comes back to you.
The 360 ID Tag is how we know a dress hasn't been worn.
If the tag has been removed or broken, or the dress shows signs of having been worn, we'll treat the hire as used and a refund won't be available, though we'll always look at genuine cases fairly.
If you'd prefer, we're happy to offer a store credit valid for 12 months instead of a refund - just say the word.
Once you've worn it
If a dress has been worn, the hire has been used and isn't refundable.
None of this takes away your rights under the Australian Consumer Law - see clause 17.
11. Cancellations and changes
Plans change - we understand.
If you need to cancel:
(a) if you cancel 14 or more days before your hire start date, we'll refund your hire fee in full, along with any Accidental Damage Protection fee, less any postage/delivery fee if your order has already been dispatched;
(b) if you cancel within 14 days of your hire start date, we'll provide a store credit, valid for 12 months, for the hire fee, and refund any Accidental Damage Protection fee, less any postage/delivery fee if your order has already been dispatched.
If you'd like to change your dress or your dates, get in touch as early as you can and we'll do our best to accommodate you, subject to availability.
12. Looking after the garment
Please treat your dress as you'd treat a favourite piece of your own - actually, a touch better, because someone else gets to enjoy it after you.
Please do
Wear it, have a wonderful night, take photos and video, post yourself wearing it on socials, and pack it straight back into the same mailer afterwards.
Please don't
Don't wash it, steam it, dry-clean it yourself, iron it, alter or pin it in a way that damages the fabric, remove the 360 ID Tag before you've decided to keep the hire, or use it for anything beyond ordinary wear.
A note on tan, perfume, jewellery and watches
Fake tan, self-tanner, heavy perfume and deodorant marks are among the most common causes of damage we can't easily remove.
Please go a little carefully with them, and let them dry before the dress goes on.
Please also be mindful of potential snags or tears from jewellery, watches and the like.
The standard dry-cleaning is included in your hire price - we take care of it after every hire, so you don't need to clean the dress before returning it.
And please don't try.
13. Damage, stains and cleaning
Accidents happen on a big night out, and we don't want you fretting over a splash of champagne.
Ordinary, minor signs of a well-loved piece are expected, and they're on us.
But if a garment suffers real damage - major staining, a tear, or the like - or needs cleaning over and above the standard clean we do after every hire, that's your responsibility, as set out below.
And it's exactly what our optional Accidental Damage Protection is there to cover.
If a garment is damaged while it's in your care, you're responsible for the cost of repair or extra cleaning and, where a piece can't be restored to a rentable condition, its replacement - up to the recommended retail price (RRP) of the garment as listed on its product page.
We'll never charge you more than the RRP, even if we lose money by missing out on future hires, unless the dress has been damaged deliberately or due to gross misuse or theft by the customer.
If anything happens to the dress, please tell us as soon as you can - ideally within 24 hours - and send through a quick photo.
Letting us know early always works the best, and it helps us land on the fairest outcome.
Deliberate damage, gross misuse, and loss or theft of the garment aren't treated as accidental damage, and are dealt with separately. See clause 14.
Optional Accidental Damage Protection (ADP)
For extra peace of mind, you can add Accidental Damage Protection at checkout - it's entirely optional.
When you select it, you're covered for accidental repair costs and/or extra cleaning up to a maximum of $250 per hired item.
ADP costs $9.95 per item.
If a garment is damaged beyond what your $250 ADP cover meets, you remain responsible for the balance of the repair or replacement cost, up to the RRP as set out above.
ADP does not cover
- loss or theft of an item;
- a return lost in transit, though you're protected if there's evidence the parcel was lodged or scanned at any point - which is exactly why we ask you to lodge over the counter and keep your receipt;
- any non-garment items we may hire, such as bags, headwear, belts, accessories and jewellery; and
- damage caused deliberately, or where extreme recklessness or carelessness is evident.
Is the ADP fee refundable?
Yes - if your hire is refunded, for example, a fit-or-preference refund under clause 10 or a cancellation refund under clause 11, any ADP fee you paid comes back to you in full, since the protection was never called on.
Once a dress has been hired out and worn, the ADP fee has done its job and isn't refundable on its own.
14. Lost, stolen or unreturned garments
If a garment isn't returned, or is lost or stolen while it's in your care, you're responsible for its replacement cost up to the RRP listed on its product page.
If a dress is more than 7 days overdue with no contact from you, we may treat it as not returned and charge the replacement cost up to RRP.
If a “lost” dress later turns up and is returned to us in good order, we'll of course refund the replacement charge, less any hire and late fees properly owing.
15. Sizing and fit
We give as much sizing and fit detail as we can on each product page, based upon the designer's size guides.
Because every body and every brand is a little different, we can't guarantee a particular dress will fit.
If a dress arrives and it doesn't fit, clause 10 (refunds) has you covered - as long as the 360 ID Tag is still attached and intact.
16. Your responsibilities
By hiring with us, you confirm:
- that you're at least 18 years old, or that a parent or guardian is making the booking for you;
- that you have legal capacity;
- that the details you've given us are correct; and
- that you'll look after the garment and return it on time and in good order.
17. Consumer guarantees (Australian Consumer Law)
Our garments and services come with guarantees that can't be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
Nothing in these terms limits or removes those guarantees.
If a garment arrives to you with a genuine fault, as opposed to the ordinary, minor signs of a much-loved hire piece, let us know straight away and we'll make it right - a replacement, a store credit or a partial or full refund, as appropriate.
To the extent the law allows, our liability for any other loss is limited to the amount you paid for your hire, and we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for example, the cost of your event.
Again, this doesn't affect your rights under the ACL.
18. Things outside our control
Occasionally something genuinely beyond our control - a courier or Australia Post delay, extreme weather, a power or systems outage, or the like - may affect a delivery or a return.
We'll always do our best to help and to find a fair solution, but we're not responsible for delays caused by events of that kind.
19. Your privacy
We collect only the information we need to process your hire and look after you as a customer, and we handle it in line with our Privacy Policy [insert link] and Australian privacy law.
We don't sell your information.
20. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and the courts of Queensland have jurisdiction.
21. Getting in touch
The quickest way to reach a real person is by email at hello@bellerobesatelier.com.au or by Australian mobile +61 407 246 890.
We read everything, and we'd genuinely rather hear from you early if something isn't right than have you sit there worrying about it.
